Riding Help

The Adequan shots did make a little difference in Reiss’s willingness to move forward when told. But now I am wondering if it is more about his behavior rather than something bothering him.

I started to wonder if my spurs are bothering him. But the real problem is I can not get him to move with out them on my boots. I ordered a belly band from the local tack shop. It is meant to help with any spur rubs and it can dull the intensity of the spur because then there is material in between the spur and his stomach.

It is very annoying to use because it is just another piece of tack to put on my horse. It is tricky to put on the first few times until the elastic stretches out a bit. It made a difference in the spur rubs in about 5 days but he reacts the same when I get after him with the spurs.

I talked to James and my trainer Steph to find out if there was more that I could do. They decided that maybe he needs to be in more of a schooling program where they each ride him a day or two during the week before I get on him. This way they can get him started and moving and I will enjoy my rides again. At first, I was not sure what to think of this because I do not like to ask for too much help. I am independent and like to be self-sufficient. But they talked me into it. So, I am hoping that this works. Steph also suggested getting him the pulse therapy because she uses it on her horses and saw a great response from it. I am going to contact the women and see if she can come next week and this way, I can find out more about it.
